WINONA, Minn. — The numbers — five and 0.46 — were microscopic. And when you are a collegiate goalkeeper, that's a good thing.

At least for the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team.

For the Cardinals' opponents, however, those numbers were anything but good.

SMU's Jennifer Johnson (Racine, Wis.) allowed just five goals in 11 conference games this season. Her efforts helped lead the Cardinals to a 6-5-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record — their most conference wins since the 1997 season.

And Tuesday, the Cardinals' junior goalkeeper was rewarded for her efforts, as she was named to the All-MIAC First Team.

Johnson's 85 saves, .933 save percentage, 0.46 goals-against-average and six shutouts in 11 conference appearances were all among the top three in the MIAC.

For the season, Johnson appeared in all 18 games, compiling a 0.42 goals-against-average and a .940 save percentage. She collected nine shutouts and allowed more than one goal in a game just once.

SMU teammates Kendra Maloney (Green Bay, Wis. / 10 MIAC GP, 2 goals, 1 assist, 5 points) and Amy Cory (Crystal Lake, Ill. / 11 MIAC GP, 3 goals, 1 assist, 7 points) were honorable mention All-MIAC selections.
