WINONA, Minn. For the first time since the 1999 season, the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team has returned to the national spotlight.
Fueled by a perfect 8-0-0 start to the season, the Cardinals cracked the top 10 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Central Region Poll.
Macalester, which ended SMU's season-opening run with a 1-0 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday, holds the region's No. 1 spot, followed by the University of Chicago, Loras, Wheaton. and Washington (Mo.) University.
The Cardinals and Scots are the only MIAC teams in the regional poll, while Concordia, Augsburg and St. Benedict all received votes.
