What better place than the bus ride to St. Thomas to write my Senior Salute. Four years ago, I could not comprehend the importance of an MIAC game, let alone one of our biggest rivals. As I embark upon a new journey and leave this one behind, I hope that my teammates will leave this program with a new appreciation for the game, for competition, for the bridge across campus, hard work, teammates, and most importantly, for life.

I know I could not have that new appreciation if it were not for the people that have supported my through this journey. Mom and Dad, words could never express how and lucky I truly am. From coaching me since I was five, to driving over 500 miles to watch a game, I could not ask for better parents than that. I hope one day I can be half the person you both are.

To the coaching staff here at Saint Mary’s, thank you for showing me how much I truly love to play. I’d like to say thank you to Dave Williams. It’s so nice to see that people really do care about and understand their players and their lives, whether you’ve wanted to or not. Coach Halberg, first off, England was amazing. Secondly, your passion is inspiring and your laugh is contagious. Your motivational pre-game speeches and your competitive spirit in practice push us to work that much harder. Thank you for everything you have sacrificed for me, for this team, and for the game. Coach Guinn, I knew from the first time I talked with you that you should be the person to turn this program around. Although it’s only been a few months, the changes are ones that will leave an impact on a person for the rest of their life. I have been blessed to be around a person with so much admiration for the game, such a desire to teach, and an overall love of life. It’s awesome to be around.

Finally, to my teammates, but most importantly, my friends: Play! Stef and Erica, we’ve all battled our way through obstacles and had our ups and downs. It’s been a challenging four years, and to go through it with strong people and leaders has made it that much easier. Thank you. Mooney, you’re a freak and I love it! It’s been a lot of fun watching you pull the team together on and off the field. Your hard work and your attitude are things that could never be replaced. I’m just lucky I’ve been able to be around it. I am a very fortunate person to have you not only as a teammate and classmate, but as one of my best friends. Courtney, I don’t even know where to begin. Your leadership on this team is something I’ve been able to admire from Day 1. Everyone can always count on you to give this game everything you have. It’s been a pleasure to play with you and I hope you continue to lead this team to bigger and better things next year. You all are amazing people and I can say that I spent some of the best years of my life playing with you.

To the rest of the team: I cannot begin to tell you how fast these four years have passed. I hope that you make the most of the opportunity you have. One of the best parts about this program is that it can only keep getting stronger. To be a part of that is unreal. I hope you all enjoy playing with people you respect and trust as much as I have. Never turn your back on this game or each other, because neither will turn its back on you.
