Senior / Goalie

Although I’ve only been playing soccer for eight years, it has consumed a great part of my life and meant a lot to me, ever since I was a freshman in high school.

The start of my soccer career wasn’t typical by any means — I started to play just so I could get in better shape … oops … I’m a goalie now. J.K. all keepers are in peak physical condition.

I want to start by thanking my family, especially my parents for their continuous support. They have been an inspiration to me, and without them, I would not have been able to succeed both athletically and academically at Saint Mary’s. I know they have provided me with the ability to do whatever I want to do in life. I want to thank my brother as well, for always setting a standard for me to strive to. I’ve always looked up to my big brother, Mike, and hope he knows what he means to me.

I’d also like to send a shout out to my roomies, or should I say homies, Rachel, Tracy, Michele and Gillian. I don’t know what I would do without you, probably not procrastinate so much, I guess. I’ll miss you all so much after this year, thank you for giving me such great memories of my time at SMU.

Thanks to all the girls I’ve played with over the past four years, you’re the reason I love soccer so much and the reason I get to the locker room way too early every day. You have all given me so many memories and made my soccer experience amazing. Sharing more than just soccer with you is what makes our team so meaningful. I’ll always cherish the friendships that I made on and off the soccer field with you girls. A special thanks to the other seniors, your dedication to the team is an inspiration.

Finally, I want to thank the coaches for their continued support and for making me a better soccer player and better person. A special thanks to Dave for his constant encouragement and for helping me to believe in myself as a player. I always felt that you wouldn’t push me so hard unless you believed in me, too.

Soccer has taught me a lot about life — how to work with others, how to never give up, and how sweet success can be.
