Where did the time go? It just seemed like last week I was walking up the stairs to good old Skemp, moving all of my stuff in for the first week of practice. Who knew that the people that I met during that first week would be the ones that I still talk to every day. Soccer is what brought me to SMU, but it was my teammates and friends that kept me here. I cant believe that the last season of my soccer career is here and is all but over.
Thanks to my parents, for coming to the games to support us even though my dad had to make sure to walk Jetta, the dog, before he could sit down for the game. Thanks to Colleen for showing me what it meant to be a keeper for Saint Marys, and more importantly, how to play goalie wars and how much a skin thwap does hurt. Thanks to the coaches for pushing me along and demanding more of me. Dave, every practice was a great one, and I just wish we could have done The Drill more along with goalie wars, because we all know that is my favorite game. Also, thanks to my roomies who come out and support the team.
To my fellow seniors, I couldnt have done it without you. Laurel, I remember playing you a dozen times before we got here and everyone thought that we were twins. Even though everyone thought I was loud, you put me to shame. Anji, I am sorry that whenever I had a bad day or just felt like hitting someone it was you, but I only hit because thats how much I like you. Goody, I know that you went to Lourdes and I tried to look past that but when you tackled me and gave me a beached whale, I knew how much you do like me. But I do want my number back! Beth, can I just tell you that whenever I have the ball and you try and get it from me, you may end up with it, but you will be on the ground when you get it and Mimi will always beat you. Emily, I got to practice with you every day for the last four years, and let me tell you, I just wish that Blue could have been around for the whole time. Last, but not least, Heidi, it was great living with you and your accent last year and I hope that I can come and visit you in your county sometime and play some quality Kings.
And to the rest of you, just wait till the alumni game. Stef, I know it wont be the last time that I hear you sing about your lil pink ribbon on your eye, and Mooney, there will always be holes for you to fall in, even though the rest of us dont seen them. Kim, I hope that those
Under Armor shorts help you from getting injured next year. Studs, just remember that its not good to make out with everyone. To the freshman goalies, Toby and Sully, I will be back and goalie wars will be played and Emily and I will always win. And Sarah, remember the sunscreen and blankets.
Thanks, DJ, for being in the water club with me when we went to go get wingys, because we all know that fat kids are awesome and no matter what time it is, you always need food. And Ferraro, I know that 2 and 4 are key, and hopefully I havent seen the last of the Under Water Attack Monkey. Dont worry Mark, you are in here, too, because I dont know how I would have lasted this season without you I love you this much. You have helped me in so many ways, that I wouldnt even know where to start and, yes, I know that me and Buddha have some work ahead of us.
This year has been great, and I never want it to end, but all things that are great have to end. Im sorry that I didnt mention everyone, but my thanks goes out to all of you, because you all have touched me throughout my life. I cant believe that the sport that I have been playing the longest is almost over, but I hope that I never will fully stop playing because I know I would go nuts if I couldnt play.
I guess its time to take out my stinky gloves for the last time this year and play Cardinal soccer one last time.
Go SMU!
