Many people talk about how fast your collegiate career passes. Ill admit, I used to laugh, thinking I would have plenty of time to enjoy it. Honestly, time flies when youre having fun. Its hard to believe I will be done playing SMU soccer. It seems like only last year I moved into Skemp Hall anticipating a conditioning week of hell. There are so many great and some not-so-great, more so embarrassing memories that I will take away with me.
We are all playing for the love of the game, but its the people that make the experience so valuable. You wont be able to get out there and run around when youre 80, but youll (hopefully) be able to pick up the phone and call one of your teammates, who just so happens to be your best friend. Of course were going to get on each other nerves once in a while. Its a womens team, what do you expect? Dont worry about it, brush it off and enjoy the game while you are able to. Go out, kick some ass and play your hearts out! When the game is over, youll still have your friends.
Freshmen, I want to thank you for a GREAT year. Each one of you has brought something unique to the team
Ally, so maybe you brought a couple things. It has been fun and an honor to play with you since, I know youre going to help bring SMU back up to where it belongs. Martha and Di, keep your heads up and kick ass! Ill be back to visit as much as I can.
Sophomores and juniors, it has been a great experience getting to know all of you and having the opportunity to play with you. Keep up the good work, help Erica get her ass back in the game and keep those frosh in check. Love you all!
My senior girls
Goody, two words: beached whale. Thanks for the support and all the laughs.
Heidi, thanks for the great bench and bus talks. Dont worry about help when youre playing up front, you have a great shot, use it!
D, from learning every code for the damn voicemail during that first week freshman year without TVs, to exploring Vlazny, to entertainment on the weekends, its been awesome and I want to thank you for being there through it all.
Anj, alumni weekend, in case some terrible, terrible storm wipes out the earths supply of hair spray Ill save a bottle for you (or maybe five, so it will at least get you through the weekend).
Em, your heart and dedication to the game is amazing. Thanks for being there to back us up. Oh, and I wont forget those great Lasallian bus talks!
Beth Z., always a laugh! Thanks for the fun, good chats and last, but not least, Raspberry Chocolate Swirl.
Coaches:
Dave, thank you SO MUCH for your listening ear, advice, and the occasional kick in the ass. Youve helped me through many hard times throughout the seasons. Thank you! If anyone needs a pick-me-up, talk to Dave. He never fails to make you laugh whether it is pure Dave humor or one of those random Winona stories, its a guaranteed laugh.
Jeff, your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for those pre-game talks. God knows we missed your excitement when you went to St. Ts.
Coach Blank, even though youve tried to leave me several times (GAC, St. Thomas before the game, and I know theres more), either I havent gotten the hint, or you dont mind letting me run around the field. I want to thank you for four great seasons. Theres a lot more to being part of a team than winning. Good luck in the future. Im excited to come back and watch.
o our fans: Hockey girls, Todd and TJ, thanks for all your support and coming out to the games even though it was nasty weather or just friggin cold. We always know we can count on you to keep those referees in check. Thank you everyone for coming out to cheer us on!
Ty, thanks for your all of your support and for listening to me whine while you have plenty of other things to worry about. Thank you for helping me figure some things out or for telling me Im just being stupid. Ily
Last, but not least, Mom and Dad
I am honored to be your daughter and only hope that I can be half the parents you are. Thank you for your support of me as a person as well as a soccer player. Thank you for your cheering and all your love. Love you!
