WINONA, Minn. Saint Mary's University women's soccer players Diane Schirmers (Prior Lake, Minn.) and Kelli Krmpotich (Minneapolis, Minn.) were named honorable-mention All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, it was announced Wednesday.
Schirmers, a freshman forward, was the Cardinals' leading scorer, netting three goals in SMU's 11 conference games. She also chipped in one assist for a team-leading seven points, helping the Cardinals to a 2-8-1 MIAC finish.
Krmpotich, a freshman defender, was one of the leaders in the SMU backfield, helping the Cardinals improve their MIAC goals-against-average from 4.00 a year ago, to 3.42 this season.
St. Benedict's Megan McVoy was named the MIAC's Most Valuable Player, while Concordia's Dan Weiler was selected as the conferece's coach of the year.
