Cardinals roll past Hamline 9-1 for 7th straight victory

WINONA, Minn. — Josie Nechodom (Oakdale, Minn.) and Ruth Swanson (Shoreview, Minn.) each scored a pair of goals as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team extended its winning streak to seven games with a 9-1 MIAC victory over Hamline Friday evening.

The Cardinals (11-2-0 MIAC, 15-4-0 overall) scored four times in the first period and added five more in the second en route to the lopsided victory.

Nechodom scored both of her goals in the first period, while Tasa Kostel (Rochester, Minn.) and Ann Kennedy (Mendota Heights, Minn.) also scored for SMU in the first period. Swanson netted her two goals in the second, while Missy Westergren (Lonsdale, Minn.), Evora Olson (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and Alyssa Hendlin (Minneapolis, Minn.) accounted for the other three.

Missie Meemken (St. Cloud, Minn.) picked up the win in goal, stopping 14 shots, while SMU pummeled Hamline goalie Emily Krinhop with 63 shots.
