The Wildcats are still searching for their first win of the season. St. Catherine has lost 10 straight since a 2-2 tie vs. Concordia on Dec. 3. … Prior to the Cobber tie, St. Catherine had opened the season with six straigtht losses. … St. Catherine has been outscored 49-13 during their current nine-game slide, and have been outscored 86-26 for the season. … St. Catherine has scroed more than two goals in a game just twice (a 10-4 loss to Finlandia and a 5-3 setback vs. Bethel), and has scored one goal or less seven times. … Aryn Ball (7), Angela M Johnson (6) and Kaytlyn Mount (6) have scored 19 of the Wildcats' 26 goals. … Johnson, meanwhile, eads the team in assists (6) and points (12).

The Cardinals scored twice in the first period and once in the second, and got a 12-save shutout effort from Amanda Gage (Lino Lakes, Minn.) in shutting out St. Catherine 3-0 Friday at the SMU Ice Arena.

The Cardinals took three of four points from St. Catherine in the teams' regular-season meetings a year ago, getting three goals from Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) in a 5-2 series-opening win, then giving up a pair of third-period goals in settling for a 2-2 tie in the rematch.

The Cardinals' win vs. St. Catherine was their third in their last four games.. … Amy Madden (East Grand Rapids, Mich.), who scored in both of SMU's games vs. Hamline last weekend, extended her goal-scoring streak to three games with her seventh goal of the season on Friday. … SMU's three goals vs. the Wildcats marked just the fourth time this season that the Cardinals have scored three or more goals in a game. … Laura Mueller (St. Paul, Minn.) and Angie Kryzer (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) accountedfor SMU's other two goals vs. St. Catherine Friday. …  Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) pushed her team-leading point total to 17 with an assist Friday. The SMU senior also leads the team in goals (10) and her 45 career goals are just three goals back of Christy Hicks for No. 3 all-time. … Mondo's 85 career points are also No. 4 all-time. … Amanda Gage (Lino Lakes, Minn.) stopped all 12 shots she faced Friday to earn her first shutout of the season and the fifth of her career. … SMU held St. Catherine to a season-low one shot on goal in the first period Friday. … After opening the season 0-5-2 on the road, the Cardinals enter Saturday's game at St. Catherine having won back-to-back road contests. … The Cardinals have not won a game this year in which their opponent has scored first (0-11-0).
