The Cardinals got goals from Amy Madden (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Laura Mueller (St. Paul, Minn.), and a 29-save effort from Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) en route to a 2-1 win vs. Hamline in St. Paul, Minn., Friday.

The Cardinals and Pipers split their MIAC series a year ago, with SMU getting a pair of goals from both Laura Mueller (St. Paul, Minn.) and Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) in the 5-2 Game 1 win, while Hamline scored twice in all three periods in beating SMU 6-3 in the rematch.

The Cardinals' win Friday was SMU's second straight — the team's first two-game winning streak of the season. … SMU's 4-0 win last Saturday vs. the Cobbers put an end to their seven-game losing streak — the longest in the program's history. … Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) stopped 29 Piper shots Friday and has now stopped 41 of the last 42 shots she's face — including all 23 Concordia shots last Saturday in posting her first shutout of the season and the 11th of her four-year career. …  Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) was held without a point in Friday's game, but the SMU senior still leads the team in goals (11) and points (16) …Mondo now boasts 45 career goals, three back of Christy Hicks for No. 3 all-time. …  Her 84 career points are also No. 4 all-time. … Laura Mueller (St. Paul, Minn.), who scored one of SMU's two goals Friday, leads the team in assists (7) and is second to Mondo in points with 12. … After being outscored 28-7 during their seven-game losing streak, the Cardinals have outscored their last two opponents 6-1. … The Cardinals have been outscored in every period, including 16-6 in the second and 16-10 in the third. … SMU is gunning for its second straight Saturday win this afternoon.
