Caty Bids Farewell
I give my first thanks to my mom, Cheryl. She has always been the one to support me, and stand behind me while I made my choices that led me here, to this school. She has always been that constant in my life that has always meant so much to me. There’s so much to say but you know me, and I’m not sure how to say it, so let me say this. Thanks for everything mom. I love you.

Next is my dad, who at times throughout my years of youth hockey, was one of my coaches. Thanks for introducing me to hockey and allowing me to play it, especially since I had to play on the same team as my brothers; it was the one place we got along best. Thanks for teaching me what you could about being a goalie. I know you weren’t entirely happy about me leaving home to go to college, but I’ll admit that it pushed me to do my best here just to prove that I could do it. So thanks.

I want to say how much it has been a great opportunity to be able to play a sport I love will such a great group of women, here at SMU. I’ve been watching my fellow seniors play for the last three years and I am honored to be able to skate along side them at practice, as well as the rest of the team. I sit here typing wondering if I really deserve to be grouped with this year’s remarkable group of seniors, but I am thankful for the chance. I just hope I was able to help or support each one of you, juniors, sophomore and freshmen included, throughout the year, if not, sorry. Good luck to those of you who continue to play next year.

Moo, I don’t know if you remember it, but the conversation we had before the season began really meant a lot to me. Becky, I always liked your jokes, I’ll even admit to retelling them, giving you credit, of course. Nikki, your OCD tendencies will never be forgotten, and I completely understand their reasonings — superstition can be an integral part to goaltending. Jenna, it’s been interesting, to say the least, sitting next to you all year and I remember meeting you at that camp all those years ago. Danielle, just keep on smiling. For everyone else I didn’t mention, it has been great knowing you and getting to know you better, you all helped create memories that will never be forgotten. The best of luck to all of you in your futures.

I would like to say a special thanks to Amanda Gage. She was always encouraging me, whether it was to keep trying out for the team, or whenever I started to think pessimistically. You were even willing to tell me to shut up when I got annoying, which was rather often. Gage, I will always be thankful for everything, so thanks, and the best of luck to you with teaching 3rd graders, though I know you like that kind of thing.

Terry, thank you for providing me the opportunity to be a part of something so great. I know my situation wasn’t ideal or great, but I will always remember the times I had with this team and will always appreciate the opportunity you gave me. Thank you.

Ladies, it’s been great, and once again, I hope the best for all of you, in what ever life brings at you.
