The Tommies erupted for seven unanswered goals — including three off the stick of Jackie Carroll — as St. Thomas rallied from a 2-1 first-period deficit to beat the Cardinals 8-3 Friday night. … SMU was outscored 13-1 in losing both games (6-1 and 7-0) of its MIAC series vs. St. Thomas a year ago.

Madeline Loftus (Parisippany, N.J.) was held without a point vs. the Tommies Friday — the first time this season the SMU senior has not recorded at least one point. … Eight different players have accounted for the Cardinals’ 10 goals this season. … Laura Langen (New Lisbon, Wis.) netted her first collegiate goal vs. the Tommies on Friday night. … Amy Madden (East Grand Forks, Mich.) picked up her first of the season vs. UST, while Jill Rhody (St. Paul, Minn.) scored the other SMU goal — her second goal in the last three games. … Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) finished with 30 saves vs. UST and currently boasts an .899 save percentage in three starts. … The Cardinals are now 11-6-1 all-time vs. St. Thomas — but after starting the series 11-0-1, SMU has dropped the last six meetings between the two schools. … St. Thomas has outscored the Cardinals 26-6 during its current six-game win streak.
