WINONA, Minn. — For the third straight season, Saint Mary's University's Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) is among those honored as one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's elite women's hockey players.

Mondo, who led the Cardinals to their sixth straight MIAC post-season appearance, was named to the All-MIAC First Team, it was announced Wednesday.

The junior captain, who was an All-MIAC first-teamer as a freshman and an honorable-mention pick a year ago, scored a team-high eight goals and added a team-leading 14 points in the Cardinals' 18 MIAC games.

Mondo was also the team's overall scoring leader, collecting career highs of 11 goals and 20 points in 25 games.

Juniors Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and Laura Mueller (St. Paul, Minn.) and sophomore Val Rodriguez (Woodbury, Minn.) were honorable-mention picks. Jung boasted a 3.13 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage in 15 MIAC starts in goal. Mueller led the team in assists (10) and shared the team lead with Mondo in points, while Rodriguez chipped in a pair of assists in spearheading SMU's defensive corps.
