Concordia hands Cardinals their 2nd straight loss, 82-62

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Concordia used a smothering defense — forcing 28 turnovers and recording 18 steals — and a dominating inside game to beat the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team Monday evening, handing the Cardinals their second straight MIAC defeat, 82-62.

The Cobbers shot 50 percent from the field (31-for-62) and got game-high 18 points from MIAC scoring leader Brandi Myers. Casey Bostow finished with 17 points and Mandy Berggren and Katrina Wilberts each added 13 for Concordia.

The Cardinals, who hit just 19 of 51 field goal attempts, were led by Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.) who scored 14 points.

Saint Mary's (4-4 MIAC, 5-6 overall) trailed by 15, 38-23, at the break, and could never close the gap as Concordia (6-2, 8-3) opened a 26-point second-half advantage and never let SMU within 20 the rest of the way.
