The Gusties dropped the Cardinals 70-58 on Jan. 4, then completed the conference sweep with a 72-37 win on Feb. 4. … The Cardinals struggled to hang on to the ball Wednesday against St. Olaf, turning it over 26 times in a 63-45 loss to the Oles. … Gustavus, meanwhile, rebounded from its first loss of the season — a 67-52 loss to Saint Benedict on Dec. 6 — with a 64-49 win over St. Catherine on Wednesday.

Kelly Tanke (La Crosse, Wis.) scored a game-high 15 points — including 13 in the first half — in Wednesday’s loss to St. Olaf. … Tanke’s 15 points were one shy of the Cardinals’ individual season high, a 16-point effort from Jessica Weisbrod (Rollingstone, Minn.) vs. Macalester on Dec. 4. … Tanke also posted season highs for field goals made (7) and field goals attempted (14). … Weisbrod posted a season-best four blocked shots vs. the Oles. … Weisbrod and Tanke share the team’s scoring lead, as the duo are both averaging 9.1 ppg. … Tanke has accounted for half of SMU’s 22 3-point field goals this season. … SMU scored just 17 second-half points vs. St. Olaf, marking the third time this season the Cardinals have been held under 20 points for a half. … The Oles’ 63 points were the fourth-highest offensive output by an SMU opponent this year. … The Cardinals’ 45 points, meanwhile, were the third lowest this season. … SMU made a season-low 2 of 11 3-point attempts vs. St. Olaf. … The Cardinals’ struggles from the free throw line continued vs. St. Olaf, as SMU made just 5 of 11. Bri Monahan and Jess Vadnais have been the Gusties’ 1-2 scoring punch all season, and Wednesday vs. St. Catherine was no different as the two combined to score 49 of GAC’s 64 points. Monahan finished with a season-high 29 points, while Vadnais chipped in 20. … Vadnais boasts a team-leading 18.1 scoring average, while Monahan is close behind at 17.6 ppg. … Sixteen of Vadnais’ 43 field goals have come from beyond the 3-point line. … Along with her 17.6 scoring average, Monahan also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 rpg. … The Gusties opened the season with six straight wins — holding their opponents to less than 50 points in four of those six games. … St. Benedict held GAC to a season-low 52 points in handing the Gusties their lone loss, 67-52, on Dec. 6.
