Tommie Notes
The Tommies have 145 3-point baskets and already surpassed last year's total of 109. They lead the conference in 3-pointers made per game at 6.31... Senior center Erica Opdahl had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots in Monday’s loss to St. Olaf to become just the third UST women's player to surpass 1,200 points and 650 rebounds on her career. … Last decade, St. Thomas set what's believed to be an NCAA Division III record for consecutive conference women's basketball victories. From Jan. 1995-Jan. 1998, the Tommie women won 60 consecutive regular-season games vs. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents (65 when you include five NCAA playoff games over MIAC teams). Former coach Ted Riverso's teams posted back-to-back 20-0 MIAC finishes in 1995-96 and 1996-97, and in that era won 42 consecutive MIAC road games. The record was broken last season by Emmanuel (Mass.), which now has a streak of 69 and counting. ... Earlier in the 1990s, St. Thomas broke the Division III overall winning streak with 40 straight victories, including an NCAA championship in 1990-91. That was later broken by Capital (Ohio) with 60 wins and Washington U. with 81 wins.
