SMU cruised to a pair of wins vs. the Wildcats last season, winning 78-70 in the first meeting, then completing the sweep with an 82-67 triumph. … The Cardinals rebounded from a dismal season-opening loss to UW-La Crosse with a 62-55 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering to finish 1-1 at the Rockford Tournament on Nov. 18-19. … St. Catherine, meanwhile, opened its season with an overtime win over Northland and a 65-53 loss to UW-Superior.

Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) averaged 16.0 ppg — including a game-high 21 points in SMU's win over MSOE — and earned all-tournament honors at the season-opening Rockford Tip-Off Tournament. … Jessica Weisbrod (Rollingstone, Minn.), who averaged 12.5 ppg, collected the team's first double-double of the season vs. MSOE, scoring 14 points and adding 10 rebounds. … Danielle Dehning (Spring Grove, Minn.) missed her first collegiate double-double by one point, finishing with nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds vs. MSOE. … The Cardinals were outscored 58-40 in the first half of their two games in the Rockford Tournament. … As a team, SMU made just 7 of 37 3-point attempts (19 percent), with Luehmann scoring five of the seven 3-pointers.
