MIAC Playoff Watch: With one game left in the regular season, SMU and Gustavus are tied for fourth in the MIAC standings. Because SMU holds the tiebreaker over GAC with its two wins over the Gusties this season, the Cardinals need a win today — or a Gustavus loss vs. St. Benedict — to secure the No. 4 spot in the six-team MIAC tournament, and the home game that goes with it. If SMU finishes No. 4, the Cardinals will host Gustavus on Monday at 7:30 p.m.. If Gustavus is No. 4, SMU will travel to St. Peter, Minn., to take on the Gusties. … St. Olaf, meanwhile, still has an outside shot at the sixth and final playoff spot. The Oles currently trail St. Thomas by one game. Because St. Olaf holds the tiebreaker, STO needs to beat SMU, then hope St. Catherine can pull its second straight upset of the week by knocking off UST.
