I don’t get it. You actually want me to think about ball being done before the season is even over? Well … I guess most people look at this as their “final farewell” or “last hurrah!” I’m just not quite ready to look at it like that. This is just the beginning, I mean we haven’t spent the last three years preparing for nothing! OK, so you’re right, three years ago I couldn’t even handle stepping on the court without freaking out….let alone touching the ball while I was out there…shooting? Out of the question! The thought of “are you kidding me?! I have to be out here for 36 seconds?!” Who would’ve thought those seconds would quickly turn into minutes and coaches are still telling me to relax out there. “Please, slow down G!” will be words forever embedded in my mind. I guess some things really never do change! But, you’ll have that!

As for today … . The emotions have just begun … from losing to Concordia by a total of three points in two games and one overtime, to the unforgettable feeling of knocking off Ben’s and Gustavus (twice, I might add). There’s only one thing we have left to do … .

But before we get there, I’m thinkin’ there’s been some incredible people who have helped me get to where I’m at today who deserve a lot more credit than they’ve gotten.

First, to the No. 1 man in my life. Dad, you’ve been more than I could ask for these last few years. Although basketball has seemed to take over my life, you have never failed to put your hand out for support through it all. Never forcing me … just making sure I knew you were there meant more than the world to me. And I have to say, not missing a game this year (maybe I shouldn’t speak to0 soon), IMPRESSIVE! Love you and high fiver!

Mom, I know these years haven’t been easy for you. And if you could’ve been here you would in a heartbeat. But you have meant more to me than you know. Your unending love and support has been more than I could ask for. Today makes up for it!! Love you!

To my sisters, you’ve always been there as an “outsider” for me to vent to, surprising me left and right showing up at games, and of course the creative signs and support of my crowd in CO … you’re good!

The girls, I truly could never have asked for more in a team than I have gotten the last few years. How could I spend hours day in and day out through blood, sweat, tears and triumph and not love you all to death! You are all amazing people and ballers . Freshmen, it wasn’t too long ago I was in your same spot. My only advice —NEVER GIVE UP. It’s all more than worth it in the end.

Sophomores, I hate to say it but, you’re halfway there — just imagine what the next few years will bring, make it great! Juniors, what better three could I ask for to carry on next year! To all of you — you are all leaders. Day-in and day-out put that jersey on with pride in what it represents and respect for what those before you have created — and laying out an even better road for those that follow.

ALL for ONE!

Tess, from sitting next to you on the bench by the water cooler, to standing next to you on the floor as the final buzzer goes off, it’s been incredible. And a journey I would have never wanted to go through without you. Never settle, go get everything you want in life and more (3-2-1 … BLAST OFF!)

Rat, I don’t know that anything I say will do much justice. It’s been a trip! There’s no way I could’ve made it through without your randomness — from crawling under bus seats as a freshman … oh, wait, and still as a senior … to water slides through the hall after the basement flooded during practice, and jumping waist deep into the ice bath so coach would think you were all wet from that! I never could’ve accomplished everything I have without you right there through it all.

Coaches, Mess, you’ve pushed me day-in and day-out striving to make me the player you’ve always seen inside. Not that I’ve always wanted to hear what you’ve had to say — or maybe seen the look you had to give — but I take it all in with great respect. You’re an amazing coach. Ray, you’re all the positive we need. I’ve never seen someone so wanting and willing to help at any cost. You’ve given me the extra edge I needed to get through the “not-so-easy” days. Tony, who ever thought you’d be coaching a bunch of basketball girls, huh?! But what a better way to start out your coaching career!

I’m lucky to have three incredible coaches that deep down care so much about each and every one of us and have made my career unforgettable.

After all is said and done — there’s only one thing left to do …

There comes a time. When we’ve got to stand up and fight for what WE want, and that time is now! ARE MY LADIES WITH ME?!!
