Ashley Bids Farewell
It feels like it was just yesterday that I was walking into the gym the first day of preseason freshman year, scared out of my mind. As I look back at the past 10 years, I realize what an impact volleyball has had on my life. Throughout the journey, I have encountered many obstacles, both challenging and rewarding, learned the importance of hard work and teamwork is essential, and have gained many friendships along the way.

First off, I would like to thank my family for their constant support — on and off the court. I can’t begin to thank you for guidance, encouragement, and opportunity that you have given me throughout the years. Adam: No matter what has happened, you gave me the strength and encouragement to believe that I can accomplish anything. I know I couldn’t have done it without any of you.

Coach: Thank you for all that you have taught me as both a volleyball player and person. Thank your for the opportunity you have given me. Rick and Kristin, thank you so much for all your help this year. You have both been such an asset to our team. Corey, thanks for always being there for me and making me laugh.

Thank you to all the great fans throughout the years. I hope while watching us through the past years, you were able to witness the hard work and dedication each one of us has for this sport.

To my teammates, it has been a great honor to play and get to know each and every one of you. T, Kelsi, Carol, and Wendy, these past years wouldn’t have been what they have without each of your unique qualities. Each of you is an incredible individual who brings so much energy, talent, and uniqueness to the team. Freshmen, I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your career. Enjoy it while you can. As for the upcoming years, put all your talent to use, challenge each other, and show everyone your true talent, and what you have worked for, for so many years. If you do that, you will be untouchable next year. Always remember why you are doing what you are doing and don’t take the opportunity that you are given for granted. I wish you the best of luck in the future. I’ll miss you all, and will always remember the great memories that we have made especially the interesting conversations, get togethers, and last, but not least, ITALY … by the way, someone still owes me big for that night, you know who you are.

Last, but not least, to my fellow seniors. First off, I want to say that playing with you has been quite the experience. I have learned so much from each of you. We have gone through many experiences, both good and bad but through it all; we have helped each other any way we could, despite any of the circumstances. We have become best friends through the process. Molli, you are an amazing player and friend. No matter what, you gave it your all. Kaylene and Jess, my teammates and my roomies. What would I have done without you? You both have been through it all with me, helping me every step of the way. I know I couldn’t have done it without your help, support, and most of all, your friendship. Thank you to my roomie and superfan, Emily. You have all been the best roommates I could ever ask for. Thank you for the many hours of laughter, crazy behaviors, advice, indulging conversations, and for all the fun times. I love you all.

This has been an incredible experience. One that I can walk away from with great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
