The Cardinals snapped a two-match losing streak with their 3-2 win over Simpson in Match 1 of the Border Battle. … The Cardinals' three-match winning streak — snapped by a 3-1 loss to the University of Dubuque — was SMU's longest of the season. … SMU's 3-0 win over Luther Friday was the third time this season that the Cardinals have beaten the Norse. … Lisa Engdahl (North Branch, Minn.) collected a season-high 25 kills in SMU's loss to Dubuque. … Molli Dant (Forest City, Iowa), who finished with 66 kills — including 22 vs. Loras — earned Border Battle All-Tournament honors. … Engdahl notched a team-best 71 kills in the four Border matches, while Carolyn Kiefer (New London, Wis.) dished out 209 assists and Desiree Larson (Blaine, Minn.) picked up a team-best 67 digs.

Winona State’s 11 wins this season are the most since the Warriors won 11 during the 2002 campaign. … After opening the season with seven wins in their first eight matches, WSU has gone 4-10 in its last 14 matches. … Kaylan Lati, who leads the team with 287 kills, is currently ranked No. 7 all-time in WSU history with 1,010 kills. … Lati is also No. 5 all-time in aces (124) and digs (1,279), while teammate Molly Horihan is sitting at No. 2 in the WSU record books in career blocks (104 solo and 274 assists). … Only twice in their first 22 matches have the Warriors been taken the maximum five games — WSU is 1-1 in those matches. … Six of WSU’s 11 wins have been by a 3-0 count, while the Warriors’ 3-0 loss to Concordia-St. Paul was just the third time they’ve been swept this season.
