Cardinals' Tessa Stranik named MIAC Setter of the Week

WINONA, Minn. Saint Mary's University's Tessa Stranik (Eatonville, Wash.), who eclipsed the 1,000-assist mark for the second straight year, was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Setter of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Stranik, who set an SMU single-season record with 1,433 assists as a junior a year ago and is currently ranked 20th in all of NCAA Division III with a 12.07 assists-per-game average collected 175 of the team's 183 assists last week, as the Cardinals went 3-0 with wins over Macalester, Bethel and Augsburg.
An All-MIAC selected last season, Stranik dished out a season-high 61 assists in the Cardinals' 3-2 win over Macalester last Wednesday, then followed that up with 55 and 59 assists, respectively, as SMU beat both Bethel and Augsburg by 3-1 counts to move to 7-2 in the MIAC.
For the season, Stranik has accumulated ,1,068 assists, while also chipping in 54 kills, 29 aces, 249 digs and 32 blocks.
