Playing volleyball at SMU has been a blast. I would not have changed anything about these past four years. Wow! Has it already been four years?! Volleyball has taught me many things about myself over the years. I have learned how to persevere even when things are not going my way. I have learned that hard work does pay off. And most of all, I have learned that attitude makes all the difference in the world.
We are so lucky to have such a great group of girls on this team. We all get along unbelievably well, it amazes me. Dont forget how much you mean to one another. Remember all the bus rides with Corey and the Cosmos, all the treats our parents sent home, and the secrets we shared. Preseason (the chocolate fountain will get you through) forces us to pull thorough mentally and physically, and we did it together.
First and foremost, I want to thank my family. My mama, you have made my life the happiest in the world. I am so glad you made it; I dont know what my life would be like without you in it. Dad, you are my superfan. You are by far the loudest person in any gym you enter. I am so lucky to have you. Jay (aka JayFay, JPS, my baby brother), you are the best brother. You make me laugh, and now we can even share our college experiences. I love you all. Thank you for all the travels you have endured over the years and the support you have given me.
Matt, thank you for you. You have been there for me through all my ups and downs. You are my biggest supporter. I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me. You are the light of my life. I love you.
My friends are the greatest. Thank you for making my college career so much fun. Tracy, Molls and Kirst, you are my roommates, teammates, and my friends. I could not have had this much fun without all of you. We were stuck like glue instantly and have yet to be separated. Rivs, our fifth roommate, I am so happy I have gotten to know you. To the two who helped us along our freshman year, Erin and Rachel, thank you for your guidance. Friends are your family when you are away at school and I have the best family. Thank you girls.
To my teammates: thank you girls for all the fun we have shared. To all my senior girls, thanks for a great four years. Megan, keep working hard; I cant wait to see where you can help take this team. Jess, Kaylene, Stacy, you are some of the most dedicated people I know. All of you have more ahead of you. Dont forget that you are in control of your own destiny. The off-season is where your improvements are made, preseason is where you are made, and in-season is where you see what you are made of. Keep up the great work and good things will follow. Thanks for all the memories!
I also must thank our coaches. Coach, thank you for introducing me to such a great program. I am so glad I had the chance to continue my volleyball career through college. Thank you for everything. Corey, we had you for three wonderfully fun years. You were the perfect blend of serious and fun. I wish you all the happiness in the world with Jules. Thank you for all you have done for me and us. Well never forget you. Jamie and Jackie, you both had big shoes to fill when Corey left and you have done a great job. Thank you all for seeing our potential and pushing us to achieve it. Thank you for knowing when to have fun and when to get down to business. Thank you all for a fantastic four years.
Finally, thank you to all of those who have been supporting our team through the years. We needed you there in the stands cheering us on. Thank you to all the parents who have traveled near and far to watch us play and given us treats afterwards (even if we didnt always deserve them). And thank you to all of our professors for being so understanding of our hectic schedule in the fall.
