Post-season honors continue for Dingels, Stranik
as Cardinal duo named honorable-mention All-Region

WINONA, Minn. The postseason honors keep piling up for Saint Mary's University volleyball players Ashley Dingels (Gibbon, Minn.) and Tessa Stranik (Eatonville, Wash.).
The duo already selected First Team All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference were named honorable-mention All-Central Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), it was announced Thursday.
Dingels, who finished as the MIAC's leader in kills (4.51 kpg) and attack percentage (.353), posted a team-leading 448 kills in SMU's 31 matches, which ranked her third all-time in school history. A two-time All-MIAC pick and a three-year letterwinner, Dingels' 4.39 kills-per-game were second only to Anna Thibault's 4.41 kills-per-game set during the 1995 season.
Stranik, the conference's leader in assists (12.15 apg), closed out her senior season with 1,324 assists third all-time behind her own 1,433 assists a year ago and Melissa Cowan's 1,370 in 2000. A three-year letterwinner and a two-year starter, Stranik also named CoSIDA Academic All-District V selection this season closed out her career at SMU with 2,783 assists (second all-time) and averaged 9.04 assists-per-game (third all-time).
The 12-player All-Region team included seven from the MIAC, including Jacki Barten, Rebecca Shane and Jessica Walden of Concordia, Beth and Katie Freeman of Carleton, May Lin Kessenich of Macalester and Claire Loesch of St. Benedict. St. Thomas' Amie Aschenbeck, Gustavus' Rachel Batalden and St. Benedict's Teri Knapper joined Stranik and Dingels as honorable-mention picks.
