WINONA, Minn. Saint Mary's University's Tessa Stranik (Eatonville, Wash.), already an All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-teamer, can now add another postseason volleyball honor to her resume.
The Cardinals' senior setter was named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-District V Second Team, it was announced Thursday.
Stranik, who led the MIAC in assists with 12.15 per game, was one of just four MIAC players named to CoSIDA's first, second or third teams. Concordia's Jessica Walden was a first-team selection, while Gustavus' Rachel Batalden joined Stranik on the second team, and Carleton's Katie Freeman was a third-team selection.
Stranik finished the season with 1,324 assists, which rank her No. 3 all-time in SMU history. A biology/bio-physics major, Stranik SMU's 2003-2004 Outstanding Scholar Athlete also holds the top two spots in the SMU record book for assists-per-game, averaging 12.35 in 2003 and 12.26 this season. A three-year letterwinner and a two-year starter, Stranik closed out her career at SMU with 2,783 assists (second all-time) and averaged 9.04 assists-per-game (third all-time).
