Cardinals ranked No. 2 in MIAC preseason volleyball poll

WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University volleyball team was ranked No. 2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll, it was announced Monday.

The Cardinals boasted an 8-3 conference mark en route to a fourth-place finish in last year's MIAC standings, and return several key starters — including second-team All-MIAC setter Melissa Cowan (Algonquin, Ill.) and conference rookie of the year Tracy Koertgen (Crystal Lake, Ill.).

St. Thomas landed nine first-place votes in claiming the top spot in the preseason poll, voted on by the 12 conference coaches, while defending champion Bethel is ranked No. 3, with St. Olaf and Macalester rounding out the top five.
