Pederson, Liss lead the way as Cardinals
break 4 school marks in Northfield meets
NORTHFIELD, Minn. New week, same old results for Kari Pederson (Hastings, Minn.), Amber Liss (Onalaska, Wis.) and the Saint Mary's University track and field teams.
Led by Pederson and Liss, the Cardinals made the Manitou Classic and the Carleton Relays their own personal school record-breaking events last Saturday, as the SMU women shattered three school marks, while the Cardinal men's Todd Yankowski (Chicago, Ill.) broke the schol's six-year-old javelin mark with a toss of 141-10.
Pederson and Liss each had a hand make that foot in two of the SMU women's four school marks. Pederson cruised to a school-record time of 26.15 in the 200 (breaking Liss' old mark), while Liss broke the tape in 1:00.78 in the 400 (breaking Pederson's old mark). The duo then teamed with Clara Setzer (Red Wing, Minn.) and Melissa Redig (Wells, Minn.) to rewrite the SMU record books in the 400 relay, while Pederson, Liss, Setzer and Theresa Miller (New Berlin, Wis.) just missed breaking their own mark in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:25.10.
