SMU earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor WINONA, Minn. The Saint Mary's University men were among 47 NCAA Division III programs recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams, it was announced Friday. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, programs must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. The Cardinals boasted a 3.235 team GPA and were one of four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to earn the post-season academic honor. Haverford topped the Division III men's list with a 3.426 cumulative GPA, with Nebraska Wesleyan (3.400) and Gustavus (3.364) rounding out the top three All-Academic teams. The MIAC, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and the University Athletic Association each had four All-Academic Track and Field teams. Tufts (seventh place at NCAA Indoor National Championships, 3.330 team GPA) and UW-Platteville (fourth place at NCAA Outdoor National Championships, 3.032 team GPA) were named the 2007 Division III USTFCCCA Men's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year, respectively. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year award is based on a combination of athletic and academic achievements, with the top honor going to the team with the best finish at the Division III Indoor and/or Outdoor National Championships as well as the highest cumulative GPA. |
