SMU earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honor WINONA, Minn. The Saint Mary's University women were among 73 NCAA Division III programs recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams, it was announced Monday. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, programs must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. The Cardinals, who had two individuals Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.) and Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) among 183 student athletes from 61 Division III colleges and universities to be named to the 2007 USTFCCCA Women's Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team, boasted a 3.176 team GPA and were one of five Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to earn the post-season academic honor. Whitworth College topped the Division III women's list with a 3.629 cumulative GPA, with Nazareth College (3.572) and Hope College (3.570) rounding out the top three All-Academic teams. UW-La Crosse (fourth-place NCAA Indoor National Championships, 3.40 team GPA) and UW-Oshkosh (first place NCAA Outdoor National Championships, 3.290 team GPA) were named the 2007 Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year, respectively. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year award is based on a combination of athletic and academic achievements, with the top honor going to the team with the best finish at the Division III Indoor and/or Outdoor National Championships as well as the highest cumulative GPA. |
