WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women were among 73 NCAA Division III programs recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams, it was announced Monday.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, programs must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.

The Cardinals, who had two individuals — Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.) and Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) — among 183 student athletes from 61 Division III colleges and universities to be named to the 2007 USTFCCCA Women's Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team, boasted a 3.176 team GPA and were one of five Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to earn the post-season academic honor.

Whitworth College topped the Division III women's list with a 3.629 cumulative GPA, with Nazareth College (3.572) and Hope College (3.570) rounding out the top three All-Academic teams.

UW-La Crosse (fourth-place NCAA Indoor National Championships, 3.40 team GPA) and UW-Oshkosh (first place NCAA Outdoor National Championships, 3.290 team GPA) were named the 2007 Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year, respectively.

The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year award is based on a combination of athletic and academic achievements, with the top honor going to the team with the best finish at the Division III Indoor and/or Outdoor National Championships as well as the highest cumulative GPA.
