Amanda Weinmann, Ashley Luehmann named to 2007 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team
They both earned invitations to the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor National Championships. In their final collegiate competition, they both earned All-American honors. And Monday, Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.) and Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) joined forces once again, as the Saint Mary's University duo were among 183 student athletes from 61 Division III colleges and universities to be named to the 2007 USTFCCCA Women's Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have obtained an NCAA qualifying mark in their respective event. Making her final NCAA appearance, Luehmann saved her best for last, earning her first-ever All-American honor with a sixth-place finish in the javelin, uncorking a toss of 43.34 meters at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in May. Weinmann, meanwhile, joined Luehmann on the All-American podium in Oshkosh, Wis., placing eighth in the shot put with a throw of 13.05 meters. The All-Academic selection is the latest in a long line of post-season accolades for Weinmann. The senior, selected by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Executive Committee as the MIAC's 2007 Woman of the Year, has also been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Second Team, and was among 10 NCAA Division III female spring sport student-athletes awarded post-graduate scholarships by the NCAA. |
