Weinmann repeats as MIAC Field Athlete of the Week

Amanda
Weinmann

MIAC Field
Athlete of Week
WINONA, Minn. — Two weeks, two NCAA Division III national championship provisional qualifying performances — and two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Not a bad start to the 2007 indoor season for Saint Mary's University's Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.).

Weinmann, a qualifier for both the indoor and outdoor national championships opened her season by
provisionally qualifying for the indoor national championships in both the shot put (12.77 meters) and the weight throw (14.93 meters) at the University of Minnesota's Northwest Open.

It was an effort that earned the SMU senior her first MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor.

Last Saturday, Weinmann made it an MIAC double, as she improved on both marks — and broke her own school record in the weight throw in the process — at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open.

Weinmann uncorked a school-record toss of 15.64 meters to place second in the weight throw, while also improving her provisional-qualifying mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.01 meters.
