WINONA, Minn. — On Saturday, Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) became SMU's first provisional qualifier for the season-ending NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.

And on Tuesday, Luehmann became the first outdoor Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.

Luehmann earned her provisional spot in the outdoor national championships with a toss of 13.20 meters in the shot put — a throw that earned the SMU senior first place in the event at the Ripon Invitational, and easily eclipsed the SMU school record.

Luehmann, who missed the majority of the indoor season because she was busy closing out a stellar collegiate basketball season with her third-straight All-MIAC selection and the No. 4 spot among SMU's all-time career scoring leaders, added another first in the discus (39.20 meters), while also finishing third in the javelin (32.0 meters).
