WINONA, Minn. Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.) became the fourth Saint Mary's University track and field athlete to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships last Friday.
And Tuesday, she became the third Cardinal to be named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
Weinmann joining teammates Megan Mason (Rochester, Minn.) and Beth Cleveland (Wausau, Wis.) as MIAC award-winners earned the conference's weekly honor thanks to a stellar effort at the UW-Stout Invitational, in which she not only provisionally qualified for the indoor national championships in the shot put, but also shattered the school record in the process.
Weinmann earned her spot in the NCAA field in winning fashion, as the SMU junior won the shot put with a toss of 12.94 meters, which currently ranks her 11th in all of NCAA Division III.
