The SMU senior posted a second-place effort in the javelin and added a sixth in the shot put and a ninth in the discus at the University of Wisconsin Twilight.
"This was a big meet — a lot of (NCAA) Division I and II teams," said SMU coach Kirk Nauman. "With the conference championships right around the corner, it was good to see us get some strong performances in this final tune-up. Ashley had a great meet, and so did a number of our other athletes.
"It was a good day."
Luehmann uncorked a toss of 38.53 meters to place second to Beloit's Megan Maure in the javelin, then posted a throw of 13.08 in the shot put and 38.50 in the discus to highlight the Cardinals' efforts. Ellen Koranda (Blue Earth, Minn.) and Autumn Valk (Appleton, Wis.) added third-place showings in the 1,500 (4:47.37) and 100 hurdles (15.24), respectively, while Amanda Weinmann (Rochester, Minn.) was fourth in the shot put with a school-record toss of 13.44 and Megan Mason (Rochester, Minn.) was fifth in the high jump (1.66).
Valk also finished seventh in the 400 hurdles (1:04.86) and Emily Bartusek (Albert Lea, Minn.) was seventh in the 400 (58.13), while Joe Holman's (Suamico, Wis.) eighth-place time of 59.94 in the 400 hurdles led the way for the SMU men.
"I'm excited about seeing what we can do at the MIAC championships," said Nauman. "We've had a number of great performances to this point, hopefully that will continue."
