WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University pole vaulter Megan Mason (Rochester, Minn.) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Mason, a freshman, broke her own school record in the pole vault at last Saturday's SMU Quintangular, clearing the bar at 10-3/4 to win the event.
Mason's feat was just one of six first-place finishes for the SMU women, who also got first-place efforts from Ashley Dingels (Gibbon, Minn.) in the 55 (7.99), 400, long jump (15-6 1/4) and high jump (5-1 1/4), Jenny Folgers (McHenry, Ill.) in the 55 hurdles (9.18) and Daysha Schleip (Holyoke, Colo.) in the 1,500 (5:14.10).
