Macalester picks up pair of dual-meet victories over Cardinals ST. PAUL, Minn. After picked up back-to-back dual-meet wins for the first time in school history last weekend, Saint Mary's University swimming and diving coach Eric Lindquist was hoping for a repeat performance Friday evening against Macalester. The Scots, however, had other ideas, as Macalester recorded the daily double, beating the SMU men 106-95, while also dropping the Cardinal women 124-101. Curtis Kempton (Owatonna, Minn.) and Jon Fox (Winona, Minn.) were the Cardinals' lone double-winners, as Kempton swept the diving competition, winning the one-meter in 223.97 and the three-meter in 204.60, while Fox won both the 50-meter freestyle (25.60) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:08.65). On the women's side, Danielle Braun (Cold Spring, Minn.) won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:21.39), while Courtney Keyler (Shorewood, Minn.) and Kasey Schultz (Cary, Ill.) chipped in firsts in the 100-meter backstroke (1:16.64) and the 400-meter freestyle (5:33.70), respectively. |
