The Cardinals come into today's meet having had two weeks off since falling to Luther in the teams' season opener. Luther beat the SMU men 107-20, while the Norse topped the Cardinal women 153-66. … The Cardinal women picked up two first-place finishes, as the 200 freestyle relay team of Toni Nigrelli (Kiel, Wis.), Danielle Braun (Cold Spring, Minn.), Margaret Walsh (Chicago, Ill.) and Lisa Salm (Chilton, Wis.) stopped the clock in 1:45.25, and Braun out-touched Luther's Betsy Gilbertson to win the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.86. … The Gustavus men picked up wins in eight events to win its season-opening dual against Minnesota State, Mankato, 180-120. … The Gustavus women, meanwhile, picked up just three wins in falling to Minnesota State University, Mankato, 170-130, … Junior Scott Hagemeyer picked up four first-place finishes (two individual, two relay) for Gustavus vs. the Mavericks.
