SMU's women's team earns CSCAA academic honor WINONA, Minn. The Saint Mary's University women's swimming and diving team found itself among the NCAA Division III's best Wednesday, as the Cardinals were recognized for their academic excellence by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Cardinals earned an Excellent ranking by the CSCAA after compiling a grade-point-average of 3.20 for the 2005 winter/spring semester. SMU's GPA ranked seventh among the 25 teams earning Excellent status. To qualify for this honor, the grade-point-average of the entire swimming and diving team, including all team members on the eligibility list, must average at least a 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Teams are then recognized in three categories Commendable (2.80-2.99), Excellent (3.00-3.24) and Superior (3.25 better). The Cardinals were one of six Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's teams to earn the CSCAA's top honor. |
