WNONA, Minn. - It was the perfect way for Sean Gibson (Chicago, Ill.) — and the other four graduating seniors — to end their home collegiate swimming careers.

Swimming in his final meet at SMU's Jul Gernes Pool, Gibson picked up a pair of first-place finishes in Saint Mary's University's dual-meet losses to UW-River Falls.

And while his efforts weren't quite enough to carry the Cardinals to the nonconference win, they were good enough to earn the SMU senior Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week honors, it was announced Wednesday.

Gibson notched his firsts in the 50 and 100 freestyle, where he touched the wall in 22.47 and 49.98, respectively.
