WAVERLY, Iowa — Wartburg erupted for four runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning and pitcher Kelley Foley made it stand up as the Knights advanced to the championship gameof the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional with a 4-0 victory over St. Thomas Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the top-seeded Knights will face Saint Mary's Sunday at 1 p.m. Since SMU enters Sunday's title game unbeaten, Wartburg must defeat the Cardinals twice in order to earn a berth in next weekend's NCAA national tournament.

Amy Kueker kicked off Wartburg's four-run fourth with a one-out single and advanced to second on Aimee Havel's groundout to first. Emily Mangin laced a single to center, scoring Kueker and moved to second on the throw to the plate. A walk to Natalie Curran and an RBI double by Betsy Girsch scored the Knights' second run and gave Wartburg runners on second and third with two outs. Carrie Clement completed the four-run outburst with a triple down the right-field line to score Girsch and Curran.
