WAVERLY, Iowa — Heather Martin went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Avery Heidenreich drove in a pair of runs with a 2-for-4 performance as St. Thomas eliminated Marian 9-0 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Saturday.

The Tommies, who also got a two-hit pitching performance from Casey Curson, advance to face top-seeded Wartburg at 2 p.m., with the winner meeting Saint Mary's on Sunday for the right to represent the Midwest Regional in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

The Tommies put the game out of reach early, scoring five times in the second inning off Marian starter Kari Moore, who gave up nine earned runs on nine hits, while walking two. The Tommies added one run in the sixth — on an RBI double by Shannon Moore — and three more in the top of the seventh — two unearned — to hand the Sabres their second loss of the tournament.

Curson walked just one batter and struck out nine in helping the Tommies advance to the elimation game against Wartburg.
