Champions of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin for the sixth straight season, North Central earned the CCIW's automatic regional berth, the proceeded to go 3-1 in regional play to earn its second trip to the national finals. The Cardinals beat Carroll 4-1 to open regional play, then split with Illinois Wesleyan (winning 9-4 and losing 10-2), before capturing the regional title with a 5-2 victory over Illinois Wesleyan.

North Central s making its fifth straight post-season appearance, and earned its first tournament finals appearance since 1983 with a 3-1 run through the regional tournament.
North Central won its sixth straight CCIW title, finishing with a near-perfect 13-1 record.
The Cardinals have already broken seven school records, including wins in a season (44), consecutive wins (27), doubles (81), triples (38), hits (506), shutouts (16) and fielding percentage (.965).
Betsy Dwyer, who set the school record for steals in a season with 19 and is one steal away from the career mark, is also the team's leading hitter (.417 BA).
Amanda Talley owns North Central school records for hits in a season (64) and in a career (207).
As a team, the Cardinals are batting .358.
Freshman pitcher Shannon Pederson has had a breakout season, setting the school record for wins (23-3, 1.25 ERA), while also tossing a complete-game no-hitter against Concordia (Ill.) on March 28.
