The Panthers have finished as the nation's second-place team the last two years, losing to UW-Stevens Point in 1998 and to Simpson in 1999.
Chapman is 31-10 overall in championship play and won the 1995 national title.
The Panthers are led by a dominating pitching duo of Lindsey Buenddia (15-4, 1.26 ERA) and Tiffany Hoskins (17-3, 1.26 ERA).
The Panthers have not allowed a run in their first two games at this year's tournament.
Chapman coach Janet Lloyed currently ranks No. 1 in career coaching winning percentage, entering this season with an. 820 mark. Today's opponent, Saint Mary's John Tschida, is second (.811). |
