When I came on my recruiting visit, I had lunch with the whole softball team. Right away I knew that this was the school and the team for me. The following August, I drove out from Colorado to start the next three years of my life. That began the formation of many great memories and relationships.
These years have gone by faster than I ever thought imaginable. The relationships I have formed along the way have been absolutely amazing. Every year, senior friends graduate and freshman friends come in, and each person has made a huge impact on my life. Each year has been better than the last. The people I have played with have been absolutely wonderful and have helped to create the great memories I will have forever.
Edge (my fellow brain), Krista, Regan, Daigle, Lang, Schipp, Gutt, Jung (my bed buddy), Schaar, Mondo, Tara, G, Thesing, Sarah, Boody, Cassie, McGraw, E, Pulvy (rock and roll M&M), Hanna, Angie, JJ, Kate, Keesha, Grobe, Danielle, Annie (always a great lap when I just can’t stand anymore!) and Jess. I would like to thank all of you for helping make my years here at Saint Mary’s wonderful. You have all been such great teammates and amazing friends. I love how the softball team is a built in circle of friends. G-ma, it has been great living by you and I am really going to miss you next year and all that sappy stuff.
I would also like to thank Coach, Miller, Carolyn, Ambjor, and Schipp. You have helped turn me into the best ball player I can be and have always been great ears to talk to. It is great to have such understanding and helpful people as coaches. You all always made me feel comfortable and set me up to do my best. And hey, Coach, I always came back from break!
It would be impossible not to mention my great support system back home in Colorado. My parents are absolutely amazing. They come out here as much as possible. I love how you guys try your hardest to be out here. You have sacrificed so much so I could come to Saint Mary’s and play ball, and you have supported me all along the way. I want to thank you for that and let you know that it really means a lot to me. Dad, even when you are not here, I can hear you cheering for Pulvy (yeah, he doesn’t cheer for me!) and I know that everyone else loves to hear you yell too.(Papa Close does do a good job when you are gone though!) My brothers have watched more softball games then they would ever want to, but have always supported my obsession. I love my family and am so thankful for everything you have done for me.
I can’t forget the family I have closer to school. I have family up in the Cities who come and watch me play and it is always so good to see them cheering in the stands, and thanks to my aunt in Winona who cooks me good food and takes me off campus whenever I need to get away. Also, thanks to Gabe for being so understanding and supportive of my passion. I love you all and you have all helped make being away from home easier because you are always there for me.
This has been the best year yet and it makes it hard to leave, especially when I know that I could have played one more year. However, the relationships I have made and the memories I have will last me for the rest of my life. Thank you to everyone for being part of something that is so special and so amazing to me.
