Blazer Notes
After opening the season with wins vs. Catholic University of Washington and University of Mary, the Blazers have not been able to win back-to-back games. … Saint Benedict has allowed eight or more runs in seven of their eight losses. In fact, five of the Blazers’ eight losses have not gone the maximum seven innings due to the eight-run rule. … Sophomore Andrea Fahey tossed a complete-game four-hitter in lifting CSB to its Game 2 win vs. Hamline. Fahey improved her overall record to 2-2 with the win. … Monica Eiden has pitched a team-leading 47.2 innings, striking out 63, while also tossing six complete games. … Jinnie Regli is the Blazers offensive leader, leading the team in average (.412), runs (14), hits (14), doubles (6), total bases (20), slugging percentage (.588) and walks (10). … Beth Hanson boasts a team-best 11 RBIs and has hit one of the Blazers’ three home runs.

The Cardinals picked up their first two conference wins of the season Monday against St. Catherine, getting a game-winning infield single from Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 6-5 Game 1 win, then banged out 13 hits in a 9-3 win in the nightcap. … Saint Benedict, meanwhile, has been off since opening its MIAC schedule with a split at Hamline. CSB dropped the opening game 4-1, then came back to win the nightcap 3-1.

Last Meeting
The Cardinals ousted Saint Benedict from the MIAC Tournament a year ago, beating the Blazers 7-0 in an elimination game. The Cardinals scored all the runs they would need on a pair of sacrifice flies in the third inning, then added another run in the fourth, before breaking the game open with three runs in the fifth.

The Cardinals enter today's DH have won the last five games between SMU and CSB, dating back to the Blazers' 2-1, 4-3 sweep on April 15, 2004. … With their sweep of St. Catherine, the Cardinals have now won six of their last eight games — the lone two losses coming against No. 1-ranked St. Thomas last Thursday … Danielle Geske (Rosemount, Minn.) and Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) accounted for all six Game 1 RBIs vs. St. Catherine — Geske belted a three-run, fourth-inning home run, while Mondo added a two-run HR in the fourth and an RBI, game-winning single in the seventh. …  Mondo and Geske also each had a single in Game 2, extending their season-high hitting streaks to nine straight.
