The Gusties have been virtually unbeatable all season. Aside from a two-game stumble vs. Northwestern (L, 7-6) and Point Loma Nazarene (L, 10-1) at the Sun West Tournament on March 10, Gustavus is a perfect 20-0 — including its current 16-game winning streak. … Equally as impressive as their 16-game win streak is, the Gusties have outscored their opponents 120-19 during that span, including eight shutout victories. … As a team, GAC is hitting .351, outscoring their opoinents 145-40. … Rachel Click is the team's offensive leader, hitting .500, while also leading the team in hits (27), runs (26), doubles (5), triples (1), home runs (7), RBIs (26), total bases (55) and slugging percentage (1.019). … Click has also posted seven mutliple-hit games, one short of Julie Mahre's team-high eight, and has six multiple-RBI games. … The Gusties have stolen 41 bases (in 44 attempts), led by Emily Klein, who has been perfect in 14 stolen-base attempts. … Joyce DeWitt leads the Gustie pitcher corps, ,boastin ga 11-1 record and a 1.05 ERA. She has pitched 73 innings, allowing just 11 earned runs, while striking out 67.


Last Action
The Cardinals banged out 22 hits and scored 15 runs en route to an 8-0, 7-2 sweep of Bethel on Tuesday. … Gustavus, meanwhile, extended its winning streak to xx with a 19-3, 12-2 nonconference sweep of Martin Luther on Wednesday.

Last Meeting
The Cardinals and Gusties met four times last season. The two teams split their regular-season doubleheader — GAC picked up a 3-1 Game 1 win, while SMU rallied from a 4-3, seventh-inning deficit, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh, including the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk to beat the Gusties 5-4. … GAC then beat the Cardinals twice in the MIAC Tournament. The Cardinals stranded eight runners on base — including two in the top of the eighth inning — and Gustavus made them pay, scoring the game-tying run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Erin Ge and a game-winning RBI double by Sarah Mahre en route to a 2-1 Gustie victory. Gustavus then eliminated SMU from post-season play, as Gustavus pitcher Joyce DeWitz held the Cardinals to one hit — and the Gusties took advantage of four SMU miscues — en route to a 3-0 victory.

With their back-to-back wins vs. Bethel on Tuesday, the Cardinals have now won eight of ther last 10 and 12 of their last 16 — with three of those four losses coming against nationally ranked teams (two vs. No. 1 St. Thomas and one vs. No. 5 UW-Eau Claire). … Jenny Giannini (River Grove, Ill.) extended her hitting streak to 10 straight, going 2-for-3 in Game 1 and a perfect 3-for-3 in Game 2. … Giannini's 3-for-3 Game 2 effort was her first three-hit game of the season. … Giannini also belted her team-leading six double in the first game. … Hanna Schmitt (Rosemount, Minn.) also feasted on Royal pitching, ,going 4-for-6 with four RBIs. … After going hitless in SMU's first three games,   Danielle Geske (Rosemount, Minn.) has hit safely in 16 of SMU's last 17 games, boating hitting streaks of 13 (snapped in Game 1 vs. Hamline) and her current three-gamer. … Megan Wallisch (Loveland, Colo.) picked up her team-leading 11th and 12th wins vs. the Royals, throwing nine innings without allowing a run..
