UWEC is currently ranked No. 4 in the NFCA Division III poll. … The Blugolds reached the regional final last year, before losing two one-run games to Coe College and a chance to advance to the Division III championships. EC finished 37-6 in 2006. … After losing its first three games of the season in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, the Blugolds have won 14 of their last 15 games. The only loss during that time was a 3-2, 8-inning decision to top-ranked St. Thomas, when the Tommies turned a triple play to end the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Eau Claire also beat St. Thomas, 2-1, in the Sun West Games. … UWEC currently has a six-game winning streak. … Eau Claire hit three home runs in its doubleheader vs. St. Norbert Monday and now has 19 dingers in 18 games this season. Last year, the Blugolds set a school record for home runs with 34 in 43 games. …  Casey Leisgang ended Monday's first game with a home run, the 22nd of her career to break the school career record. … Eight different players have hit home runs this year, led by Bekki Kidnie and Jill Janke with four each. … Janke is also the team leader in RBIs with 17. … The Blugolds are hitting .373 as a team and all but one starter is at .333 or better. They have a .555 slugging percentage and a .432 on base percentage. … The Blugolds are the three-time defending WIAC regular season champs.


Last Action
The Cardinals completed their second straight conference sweep Monday, riding the right arm of pitcher Megan Wallisch (Loveland, Colo.) to 2-1 and 4-3 wins over Saint Benedict. … The Blugolds, who had four postponements in succession after finishing the Sun West Games on March 23, returned to action Monday, sweeping St. Norbert 8-0, 9-1, with both games ending in the sixth inning via the eight-run rule.

Last Meeting
The Cardinals swept UW-Eau Claire in the team's last meeting, as SMU jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 10-2, six-inning Game 1 win, then completed the May 5, 2005, sweep with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

With their sweep of Saint Benedict, the Cardinals have now won eight of their last 10 games — the lone two losses coming against No. 1-ranked St. Thomas on March 29 … Melissa Mondo (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) went 4-for-6 against the Blazers, marking her team-leading seventh multiple-hit game. Mondo and Danielle Geske (Rosemount, Minn.) each at at least one hit in both games vs..
