WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University fastpitch softball coach Nikki Fennern has found the perfect pitching rotation — Jenny Schipp (Oakdale, Minn.) in Game 1, and a combination of Megan Wallisch (Loveland, Colo.) and Erin Leone (Farmington, Minn.) in Game 2.

And last week, it was a combination that worked to perfection, as the trio combined for a 0.66 ERA in 32 innings in guiding the Cardinals to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweeps of Augsburg and Saint Benedict.

And Monday afternoon, Schipp — the ring leader of SMU's pitching corps — was recognized for her part in the Cardinals' perfect run, as the senior right-hander was named MIAC's Pitcher of the Week.

Schipp tossed a pair of complete-games last week, allowing just two earned runs in 15 innings en route to a 0.93 ERA and a 2-0 record. Schipp scattered four hits and struck out 11 batters in SMU's eight-inning, 2-1 Game 1 win over Augsburg last Wednesday, then followed that up with a six-hit, six-strikeout performance in SMU's 5-2 Game 1 win over Saint Benedict on Thursday.

With the two wins, Schipp improved to 6-4 on the season with a 1.56 ERA in 71.2 innings. She has appeared in 13 games, allowing 59 hits and 16 earned runs, whlie striking out 86 to push her school-record career strikeout total to 476.
