The Cardinals and Eagles traded 1-0 victories in the teams’ nonconference meeting a year ago in La Crosse, Wis., with SMU winning the opener 1-0, while UW-L claimed the 1-0 Game 2 win, snapping the Cardinals’ 13-game winning streak in the process. … Jenny Schipp (Oakdale, Minn.) and the duo of Erin Leone (Farmington, Minn.) and Megan Wallisch (Loveland, Colo.) tossed back-to-back shutouts for the second straight day as the Cardinals ran their winning streak to five with a 4-0, 5-0 sweep of Macalester Wednesday. … UW-La Crosse, meanwhile, dropped back-to-back games to UW-Whitewater Wednesday, falling in Game 1 1-0 in eight innings, before losing 10-3 in the second game.

Jenny Schipp (Oakdale, Minn.) struck out 11 Macalester batters Wednesday, pushing her season total to 123 and her career total to a school-record 513. … Schipp, who has now struck out 10 or morebatters six times this season including a season-high 15 in last Saturday’s 2-0 win vs. Concordia also went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double in the Cardinals’ Game 1 win. … Erin Leone (Farmington, Minn.) and Megan Wallisch (Loveland, Colo.) combined on a three-hit shutout in Game 2 vs. Macalester. Leone allowed two hits in five innings, striking out seven, while Wallsch surrendered just one hit, while fanning four, in two innings of work. … Leone who was named MIAC Pitcher of the Week for her 12.1 innings of scoreless ball last week, including a two-hit, 14-strikeout effort against Concordia improved to 6-0 with her Game 2 pitching win. … SMU’s pitchers have now thrown 31 consecutive scoreless innings. … Jenni Gutterman (Shoreview, Minn.) picked up a hit in each of SMU’s two games vs. Macalester, extending her hitting streak to a season-high 12 straight games. … Gutterman has now hit safely in 28 of SMU’s 32 games. … The Cardinals have now won five straight, 11 of their last 12 and 19 of their last 22. … Seven of SMU’s 21 wins have come via shutout including its last four. … SMU is 17-2 when holding its opponents to two runs or less. … The Cardinals are 10-1 when scoring in the first inning and 17-2 when scoring first. … SMU has outhit its opponent in 19 of its 21 wins.
